NYCSCC, sponsor of the Flatiron Hot! News has had its fair share of international events take advantage of its facilities in NYC, and it added another one to the list – sponsored by the Republic of Vietnam!

On Thursday November 6, 2025 the NYC Seminar and Conference center hosted the Vietnam National Authority for Tourism (VNAT) for its Vietnam Tourism Roadshow event. These events, which have also been held in Washington, D.C. and Boston, are an effort from the Vietnamese government to strengthen relations with the United States through tourism, investment, and cultural exchange.

The group made excellent use of NYCSCC’s flexible use Event Hall and its flanking breakout rooms for its business-to-business road show as well as the cultural news and performance session, which attracted a good cross section of the New York-Metropolitan Area Vietnamese community and their friends and supporters, many of whom showed up to partake in the session. The Road Show, by all observation, had a great combination of companies in the U.S. that included services for tourism and cultural interchage of all types, to say nothing of the excellent coffee products for which Vietnam has become well known!

The event consisted of an in-depth presentation of everything Vietnam has to offer as a travel destination and business hub, citing the nation’s rich culture, breathtaking natural landscapes, vast array of leisure activities, and rapidly developing infrastructure. There were also live performances of traditional Vietnamese music and dances, as well as catering from a local Vietnamese restaurant, TenTen, whose owner and catering team offered an excellent menu of authentic Vietnamese soups, spring rolls of various types, and dinner entrees.

According to Nguyen Quy Phuong, the VNAT’s Director of Tourism Marketing, tourism has become a major pillar of Vietnam’s socioeconomic policy. The government has streamlined its visa policy for visitors, and Vietnam Airlines now offers direct flights from the U.S. The VNAT has also partnered with Visa to integrate its payment network into Vietnam through various promotions and partnerships. American tourism in Vietnam increased by over 20% from 2024 to 2025, attracting 15.4 million visitors in this year alone.

To this day, many Americans know very little about Vietnam beyond the war from over half a century ago. Tourism is the most effective way to shape one’s perception of a country, as it allows visitors to directly engage with the people and culture. Vietnam is welcoming the world with open arms, and it’s well past time we accept the invitation.
